SARDIS SECONDARY COMMUNITY INFORMATION

COVID Learning Options

The BC Ministry of Education requires that schools deliver courses and curriculum in a 100% face-to-face model.  Given the constraints and impact of the COVID-19 pandemic, we believe this model provides the best opportunity for the safety of students and staff, while simultaneously maximizing learning and access to all courses required to support post-secondary goals.  Moving to a Copernican model for Terms 3 and 4 also aids in the ease of transition if there is a changeover to a model that would include online learning.  The current expectation for teaching staff is to focus and support in-class instruction first and foremost.  It would be unrealistic for teaching staff to teach classes throughout the entire school day, and then add on a new requirement to replicate all work & learning outcomes for students who are now working from home; however, staff will do what they can, as best they can, considering each situation and Ministry of Education's Curricular Competencies of the course.

Covid Protocols at Sardis Secondary

The current protocols in place for anyone coming to Sardis Secondary will help us keep students and staff safe.  Everyone is expected to wear a mask upon enter the bus loop and building. Everyone is expected to wash their hands or sanitize upon entering the building.  Anyone experiencing any cold or flu-like symptoms is asked to stay at home until such time as the symptoms have subsided and there has been no fever for at least 48 hours.

The health and safety of Sardis Secondary is a shared responsibility.  We must take thoughtful and persistent steps to take care of ourselves, each other, and our school.  If we all do our part and take precautionary measures, we work together to create a safer and healthier Sardis community.

Access to Sardis Secondary

At this time, Sardis Secondary is open to public walk-ins, provided they are following our safety protocols.  If they have any signs or symptoms of a flu, they should not come in the building.  When they do enter, they need to be wearing a mask, sanitize and must sign in at our visitor registration (inside the front doors).

Grad Activities

As this pandemic has unfolded we have been given the go-ahead to plan for r grad events.  Please stay tuned to correspondence via e-mails or on our social media sites.  There will be a grad newsletter going home on March 18th outlining the events we will be hosting, along with timelines and procedures for ticket sales.  If things take a drastic turn for the worse, we will have to reassess, but we are hopeful that we can stick with our current plans.
