scholarships and awards that can be used

towards trades programs that are not restricted

Mt Cheam Lions Club Bursary - $300.00 Awarded to a deserving graduate who will be attending an accredited post-secondary institution in the trades, technical school program. The recipient will show academic integrity and good citizenship, involvement in school activities, and a spirit of community volunteering. Financial need is also a consideration.

Optimist Club of Chilliwack - Trades Scholarship - $500.00 Awarded to a student active in volunteering with youth in the community. Student must demonstrate good citizenship and school and/or community involvement. Student must show a strong motivation to pursue post-secondary education and above average academic achievement with a committed desire to succeed. Student must be continuing studies in a trades/technical/Provincially Approved apprenticeship program or any other area of study at an accredited postsecondary institution.

WF Smith Award - $3000.00 The recipient of this award excels in Fine Arts or Trades related subjects. The student exhibits good citizenship at school and plans to attend post-secondary.

Chilliwack Bowls of Hope Trades Award - $1000.00 Awarded to either an academic student or a trades
student (specify on the appilication form if you are applying as academic or trades). Must have high
academic standing and involvement in the community. Preference will be given to students who have been
involved in the "Bowls of Hope" program and have given back to the community. Must intend to pursue full-time post-secondary studies and show proof of registration to an accredited University to claim the award. One year to collect.

Chilliwack Dogwood Monarch Lions Club Bursary - $1,000.00 Preference given to student going into a trades program or a student with a disability or challenge. Grades should be sufficient for acceptance into a post- secondary program. Community involvement and financial need will also be considered. Amount subject to change.

Chilliwack-Fraser Rotary Club "Leadership Through Service" Trades Award - $2,500.00 Awarded to a deserving graduating student and resident of Chilliwack who is proceeding to full-time studies at a post-secondary institution in the trades (ie. carpenter, masonary, welding, machining, etc.) Not limited to colleges & univ. Applicants must have demonstrated leadership potential, service above self and dedication to leadership and helping others. Applicants should have participated in providing service to both the school & the community, Applicants should have attempted to diversify their skills through athletics, music &/or arts. Applicants must be committed to their education as displayed through outstanding grades. Financial need will be considered.

Clearview Demolition Ltd Wrecking Crew Scholarship - $1000 Awarded to a graduating student in SD33 who is proceeding into a trades program. Open to students of all levels of academic achievement. Financial need will be considered. Must answer the questions listed on Group 2 award descriptions.

Propell Education Award - $500 In addition to the standard application package, please include a covering letter outlining your career objectives and how they relate the financial award (business studies and trades). Include a resume, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator and a short essay: Your Greatest Success to Date. Open to graduating students pursuing business studies and trades programs. One year timeline to collect award.

Rotary Club of Chilliwack Trades Program Scholarship - $1000 Awarded to a deserving graduating student proceeding to full-time studies at a post secondary institution in a trades program who has demonstrated ability to complete the program. Applicant will receive their scholarship after they have completed their 1st year of Post Secondary School Trades training. This includes the completion of the hours of work as an apprentice for an employer who sponsors their apprenticeship. The student must successfully complete the first education component. Applicants must also have demonstrated academic excellence and service to community and school. Financial need may be considered. Two year timeline to collect scholarship.

Soprema Inc. Chilliwack Bursary - $750.00 Awarded to a student who plans to continue their post-secondary education in Drafting/CAD, Architecture, Millright, Trades, Automation/Robotics or Electrical. Applicants for Medicine, Education and Social Studies are ineligible. The recipient has one year to claim the award.

Stellers Jay Lions Club Bursary - $700.00 Awarded to a deserving student based on the following: graduation with satisfactory academic standing, plans to continue studies in a Technical/Trades accredited career program. Proof of registration needed to collect award. One year timeline to collect. 

TYCROP Trailers Business and Trades Award - $500 In addition to the standard application package, please
include a covering letter outlining your career objectives and how they relate the financial award (business and
trades). Include a resume, a letter of recommendation from a teacher, counselor or administrator and a short
essay: Your Greatest Success to Date. Open to graduating students creating their future through business studies or trades programs. One year timeline to collect the award.

 

Provincial Scholarships

District/Authority Scholarships

These recognize graduating B.C. students for excellence in their chosen area of interest or strength, including: Indigenous Languages and Culture, Fine Arts, Applied Design, Skills, and Technologies Physical Activity, International Languages, Community Service (Volunteer Activity) Technical and Trades Training.

Applications will be submitted to the Sardis Secondary career centre on April 14th, 2020 using the District Authority Application.

 

Youth Work in Trades    

If you are enrolled in Youth Work in Trades (WRK) courses, you may be eligible for a $1000 award.
