Work Experience (WEX)
The Work Experience (WEX) program allows students to earn up to 8 Grade 12 credits for paid work or volunteering completed outside of the regular timetable. This opportunity is open only to students currently in Grade 10 or 11 who will be entering Grade 11 or 12 next school year.
Students are encouraged to sign up before summer so that their summer work or volunteering hours can be captured for credit. Applications must be completed before leaving school for the summer for summer hours to count.
Two courses are available:
- WEX 12A – 4 credits
- WEX 12B – 4 credits
Each course requires approximately 100 hours of work or volunteering, along with reflective assignments. Students may use an existing job or volunteer placement to complete their hours. All placements must be with a business or organization that carries WCB coverage, in accordance with ministry requirements.
For more information or to pick up an application, students can see Mrs. Ellert in the Career Centre (B214)
Completed applications can be submitted to the main school office - deadline June 1st
